In addition to the on-site Career Center that we operate at the SMA Annual Meeting, SMA Placement Services are now available for use throughout the year via our website at http://southernmanagement.org/placements/ . Applicants can post their CVs and employers can post their job openings via this website at no charge.
You do not need to attend the SMA Annual Meeting in order to use the SMA Career Center website to find a job/candidate – the website is designed to function as a stand along resource for all management educators. That said, if you do plan on attending the SMA annual meeting, you will find that we have gone to great lengths to integrate the website and the on-site career center that we operate at the conference, and that there are many synergies between the two.
Using the Online & On-Site Career Center
Post Your CV/Job Opening: Regardless of whether you will be using the website or on-site (at conference) career center, you should post your CV/position opening online at http://southernmanagement.org/placements/. If you will participate in placements on site at the conference, we recommend that you post your CV/Job online before the conference starts, but if needed, you can also do this once you reach the conference. Note: There will be no paper forms available -- you can use your own laptop to post, or use the netbooks available in the on-site Career Center. When you post your resume/Job online, you will be able to indicate if you will be attending the SMA meeting, so that so that interested employers/candidates who are attending the meeting can contact you to set up an appointment.
Browse Job Openings/Applicant CVs: In addition to posting you CV/Job, we recommend that you also browse open jobs or browse candidate CVs via the Career Center website and contact employers/candidates that you are interested in. Note: If you are attending the meeting, be sure to browse the listings before the meeting, but also plan to browse the listings frequently while at the conference -- historically over half of the entries are entered at the conference (you can browse listings via your own laptop or via the netbooks available in the on-site Career Center).
Contact prospective employers/candidates to set up an interview: On the listing pages, candidate/employers who are attending the SMA meeting will be prominently marked as such, so that you can contact them to set up an interview at the conference. The On-Site Career Center at the conference provides an interview area on a first-come, first-service basis.
On-Site Career Center – Times and Services Offered
The timings for the On-Site Career Center at the 2012 conference will be announced shortly. The timinges for the 2011 conference were:
Several netbooks will be available during these times for posting and viewing both applicants and positions.
